Fire Extinguisher training is to be held at the firehall on Saturday September 2nd at 10:30 am-ish. Mike McDonald and Frank DeRose will be conducting the training, and it will be very simple.
- - Types of Fire Extinguishers and which one to use for various types of fires
- - PASS method (pull, aim, squeeze, sweep)
The only caveat for the event is the weather, and if it’s too windy, or not blowing in the right direction, we may have to call off the live-fire demo.
PLVFD would like to have anyone who is interested in learning how to use this equipment to come prepared for the hands-on experience using a fire extinguisher!
We will be conducting “live-fire” training, which means that we will have a fire pan demo, and participants will be able to physically use the extinguishers to put the fire out themselves.
If there are any babysitters at the lake that anyone knows of, please encourage them to come out and learn and get trained. We will have about 25 F/E’s to use, which means we can let about 30-40 people actively use them.
We would also like to recognise Bison Fire Protection who has generously donated the fire extinguishers. They have been kind enough to let us use them and not charge us for re-charge fees.
Hope to see you there!!!
