Paint Lake Volunteer Fire Department (PLVFD)

The Mission of the Paint Lake Volunteer Fire Department is to protect lives and property within Paint Lake Provincial Park from the effects of fire.

Our Values

We take pride in our community; our department; our accomplishments, and our visions for the future.

We work to the best of our capabilities with the equipment at our disposal.

We encourage the development of personal knowledge and skills.

We strive for teamwork and fire fighter safety.

We educate our community about fire prevention and emergency procedures.

We have the ability to fight fire in conjunction with Thompson Emergency Services and Helitac.

We achieved the status of a partially protected community, which saves cottagers in Insurance premiums.

If you are interested in joining the PLVFD, contact Chief Joe Dobbin at (204) 778-8603.

Training

PLVFD meets one the first Thursday of every month for meetings and training sessions.

Values Assessments at Paint Lake starting July 21st, 2014

FireSmart is living with and managing for wildfire on our landscape.

MB Conservation Paint Lake will be conducting Values Assessments at Paint Lake, beginning the week of July 21st. Kim Fiddler, the Fire Prevention Officer from Winnipeg will be conducting the assessments along with Shauna Kortz, the Fire Control Officer out of Thompson. Fire Program staff and parks will assist with this process. They will identify themselves to the home owner before conducting the assessment. They hope to get all the cottages/homes assessed this summer. The rain is helping free up time for the fire fighters.
